Bedford is a town in Bedfordshire and towards the North of Luton. Surprisingly it has one of the largest concentrations of Italian immigrants in the UK and even has its own 'Little Italy' with an envious selection of pizza and pasta restaurants as well as been voted as having the 'UK's Best Ristretto' in 2011. It is the birthplace of British Military Fitness (BMF) which started in Bedford Park and is now in parks and sites all across the UK. On that note Bedford offers a broad range of sports facilities to the public in its parks, schools, leisure centres and community sites.
Although Bedford doesn't actually have a professional football team, it is a sporty town, particularly for rowing. Many of the sports facilties and activities taking place happen in the many Bedford parks such as Beford Park, Russell Park, Allen Park and Addison Howard Park. These parks in Bedford have 11 a side football pitches, cricket squares, bowling greens, tennis courts and more. In fact Bedford Council alone runs 46 grass football pitches, a 3G sports pitch, two Rugby pitches, ten cricket squares and four rounders pitches.
There are also numerous schools in Bedford which hire out the facilities to the local community clubs and groups, such as Bedford School, Bedford High School and Biddenham International Sports College. They are all offer enviable sports facilities including multi-use sports hall for Badminton, 5 a side football, cricket nets, multi-use astroturf pitches and much more.
