Top Places to Play Badminton in Brent

Home to boxer Audley Harrison and olympian Mo Farah, there’s no reason not to get active in Brent.  The NW postcodes of Brent have a wealth of noteworthy badminton facilities and activities.  There are too many centres to fit onto a modest list, but we’ve included some of the best facilities on offer.

Seymour Leisure Centre

The GLL run Seymour Leisure Centre has a sports hall fitting 5 badminton courts, each bookable for £12.70 an hour.  If you buy a pay per play membership for a small annual fee, it entitles you to 30% off each booking.  The Marylebone Badminton Club, consisting of intermediate level players use the centre as their home, meeting on Saturday mornings.  Entry to the club is based on experience and is gained by applying through their website.

Charteris Sports Centre

The Charteris (Kilburn) Sports Centre is open 6pm to 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 6pm on Weekends.  Pay and play badminton lessons are held on Thursdays 20:00-22:00, and also on weekends.  Email bookings@charterissports.org or send a text to Lloyd on 07894 579011.  Sudbury Court Badminton Club has fantastic facilities with 6 well lit courts on wood sprung floors.  With a great social atmosphere for both adults and juniors, there is a club social on Thursday evenings.  They welcome new members, particularly those of an intermediate standard.

Vale Farm Sports Centre

Vale Farm Sports Centre is a fantastic facility with a thriving badminton community.  They have teamed up with Badminton England to provide a range of easily accessible badminton programmes such as No Strings Badminton; the drop-in pay and play programme, Essentials Badminton; an 8 week course led by Level 2 badminton coaches, and Battle Badminton; the registration hub making it easy for players to find others in the area to “battle” against.  For kids there is SmashUp Badminton, the coaching environment that incorporates games, music and challenges.  Juniors can participate in beginners or intermediate and advanced classes on Monday evenings.  Book onto a course by phoning 020 8908 6545.

No Barriers Badminton Club provides badminton for disabled players at the Willesden Sports Centre.  Classes are held on Tuesday mornings for ladies and over 45s with physical or learning disabilities.   General play for all disabilities is available on Thursday afternoons.  Classes cost £3.  For more information contact Bruno Forbes on 07779 849689 or nbbclub@gmail.com.
