With parks and football pitches hidden throughout Cardiff, in the total of four days of summer that we actually get, it can be hard to find a spot of grass that's free from a family picnic. That being said, listed below are five places to play football near Cardiff. Ranging from free outdoor parks so you can work on your tan while you play, through to premier indoor facilities for those rainy days...all 361 days of them.
1. Cardiff House of Sport
This is perhaps the premier sporting venue in Cardiff. With 3G pitches for hire and facilities modelled on some of the best premier league football club training grounds, you really can play and train on pro-level football pitches. The jewelll in Cardiff House of Sport's crown is its indoor 3G football pitch with a rubber crumb synthetic surface. The CHOS also runs a sister venue within walking distance called the Cardiff International Sports Campus, which has an external 3G football pitch for hire.
2. Victoria Park
Right in the centre of cardiff this gem is great for a relaxed kick about, especially for those with children as there are great facilities here ranging from a play area with a Splashpool in the summer, kiosk and toilet facilities all in the park.
3. Bute Park
Being one of the largest urban parks in Cardiff means you can always find somewhere to kick a ball in this park along with dedicated Cardiff 11 a side grass football pitches and three cafes for your half time break.
4. Jubilee Recreation Ground
This is a small, triangular open space which is used by personal trainers, 11 a side football and recreational sport, while it has less facilities the others it's also usually a little quieter giving you more of a chance to boot the ball without hitting anyone walking past.
5. Gôl Football Centre
Gôl considers itself to be the best 5 a side football centre in Cardiff and certainly one of the most popular. This makes it a great location if you want a more structured environment to show off your Gareth Bale like speed without needing to run as far.....or as fast.
