The Marcus Lipton Youth Hub is located on Minet Road near Loughborough Junction, South East London. It has recently been transferred into community hands having been operated by Lambeth Borough Council.
It offers two excellent sports facilities with a focus on local youth development in and around the Brixton and Loughborough area of Lambeth.
There are active memberships which gives access to an astroturf 5-a-side football pitch and and indoor football, games hall which also has a pool and table tennis tables which can also be used by the local community for various events.
A more recent addition is a fully equipped gym with various free weights and cardio vascular machines such as treadmills, cross trainers and rowing machines. Currently you don't need to be a member and you can pay as you go for a very low rate.
There is also a cafe area, gym facilities, computer suite and a music studio.
It's a great example of a working community hub with educational film/documentary evenings and girls and boys group discussion evenings as a way of developing young people.
There is an active football programme run Fulham Football Club and other activities are scheduled such as badminton and boxercise.
Parking is available on the streets outside via pay and display, although they do have a small car park for some members. The nearest train station is Loughborough Junction which is approximately 5 minutes' walk away.
The football pitch has a synthetic, astroturf surface and is in excellent condition. It also has floodlights too.
There are facilities for 5-a-side football, pool, table tennis, boxercise and other exercise classes.
