Looking for free things to do in Burgess Park and the Camberwell area? Below is a selection of paid and free activities in Burgess Park
Burgess Park was created in 1943 and designed to give South Londoners some more open space. Residents' houses were demolished as well as industrial buildings amongst disgruntlement at the time. But were not sure many people are complaining now given the wealth of facilities available in Burgess Park.
It is owned by Southwark Borough Council and operated by Quadron Services and is situated on the Old Kent Road in South East London. The Burgess Park tennis centre is run separately from the other sports facilities by Southwark City Tennis Club and located very near to the Camberwell Road entrance to the park and you cannot miss these courts.
There is a fantastic all weather, 3G football pitch which can be used for 11 a side football or split up into three smaller pitches for 5 to 7 a side football. The pitch is floodlit and can be used up until 10pm Monday to Fridays.
Other notable Burgess Park facilities are the newly constructed BMX track with lessons and group activities available on the challenging, undulating course. There is also an attractive fishing lake with permits available to be purchased from the nearby hut from as little as £4/day.
The nearest transport links are Loughborough Junction train station or Elephant and Castle underground station (Northern Line). Otherwise there are plenty of buses that go from outside the park and Waterloo station isn't too far away.
We have 1 full size 3G all weather pitch which could be divided into 3 7-aside pitches. 1 Rugby pitch over the winter and 1 Cricket pitch over the summer period. Burgess Park Community room is also available for hire. Burgess Park' newly built BMX track could also be hire with Quadron Services on 0208 546 9842 email@example.com
