Offering a wide variety of facilities, the Rykneld Sports Centre at Mackworth is a perfect location close to the city centre for hosting a range of competitive sports. There are facilities available for one-off and regular bookings, including:

Artificial playing surface (sand based, floodlighting available) - 95m X 66m
Grassed areas
Large Indoor Sports Hall - the size of 5 badminton courts - 26m X 18.5m
Fitness Suite - 10 station gym perfect for beginners

Fitness Suite - suitable for beginners to intermediate
Cricket – 2 bays of cricket nets (with mats), plus large area for skill practices and fielding drills
Badminton – 5 courts – with possible hire of racquets and shuttles
Basketball – 4 fixed rings and backboards and a retractable roof mounted net
Fitness classes – large hall to hold aerobics-style fitness sessions
Hockey – 4 goals to host practices, as well as 7 a side and 11 a side matches
Netball – nets and space enough to hold practices and matches
Soccer – 5 and 7 a side mini football (outside) and 5 a side (inside)
Table tennis – a couple of tables

Can I book online?

Yes, we use the Open Play system for our bookings, available online, or via the Google and Apple App Stores. Creating an account is free and easy.

Can I park a coach in the car park?

Yes, we have plenty of parking available and good access off the A38.

Do you offer concessions?

Yes, the following will qualify for the concessionary rate:
Under 18's, Over 60's, Registered Disabled, Full-time students.
Please note that proof of status may be required and over half of a group must qualify for the concession rate for the reduction to apply.

How long can I hire for?

Our minimum hire time is 2 x 30 minute sessions (1 hour), and then it can be extended in 30 minute blocks. Please note that session times include five minutes for setting up & clearing away.

Do you accept card payments for facility use?

Apologies, due to our online payment system currently not working, we are only accepting cash payments on the day. Invoices are paid via bank transfer as normal.
